Pregnancy Update

I used to take pictures of my ever-expanding belly but I seem to have lost my camera. I loved my camera dearly and am hoping it being "lost" is a result of me putting it somewhere that I can't currently remember. Only time will tell. In the interium we are recording videos were you are forced to endure me wiggling my belly and attemping to dance. Very sorry about that.

I'm currently 26 weeks (this video was taken last Thursday, on day one of week 26). I feel pretty good. I would say that I'm going through a growth spurt, I think the belly grows a bit every day. Which is fun to watch but I'm not as amused with my closet! We attended a really fun wedding for Taylor's cousin this weekend and it didn't occur to me until day of that I should pick out an outfit. Whoops...nothing fits!!! Luckily I had ordered a casual maternity dress from Old Navy and I tried to dress it up a bit. But I think it's time for some more shopping. :-)

Everything with the baby is good so far. We had an ultrasound at 22 weeks and everything looks normal and normal sounds great to me! Yes we do have a short list of names and no we are not sharing! We are going to wait to meet the little guy before we make our final decision.

We are heading to Arkansas this weekend for a baby shower and I'm so excited. It will be great to get a little bit of down time and to eat ourselves silly. Oh AND to get presents. Weeeee. Our agenda goes something like this: eat some bacon, tour the gardens with all the tulips in bloom, eat some ribs, check out the bathhouses, perhaps a bacon sandwich, take the party barge for a cruise, fried okra for everyone, trap shooting (preggers is going to sit it out this time), more bacon!!! It is going to be a great time.

Practice Baby

My dear friend Lara was nice enough to have a baby so that I could spend some time with a newborn before we have our own. Isn't she sweet?! I've met baby Emil twice now and have dropped him zero times. So I would say I'm pretty amazing.

I'm so glad that she is close by so that I can copy her! Plus our baby boy has a built in best friend. Whether he likes it or not. :-)

Get to know Hobbes Esquire Foss!

Taylor and I love all dogs. It was one of the many things we bonded over when we met and for years and years we've talked about the kind of dogs we want (hint: we want all of them!). We love pugs and boxers and australian shepards and mutts of every variety. We've watched every episode of the Dog Whisperer. However, we had to do some serious research to figure out the right dog for us at this time in our lives. We first decided on a pure bred since their characteristics are more predictable than mixed breeds. We selected the English Mastiff breed because of their gentle disposition and their lazy lifestyle. Known as gentle giants, they are great family dogs and need minimal excerise and grooming. A perfect match! We found a wonderful breeder in Alpine who let us come visit to spend some time with adult Mastiffs to see if we would get along. Of course we did! They were huge and goofy and completely lovable. We also got a chance to watch the dogs play with the breeder's two young toddlers which was great.

Hobbes is AKC registered and has all kinds of fancy lines and Taylor thinks it would be fun to show him. I'd like to know where he is going to get the free time! Not that I'll have more free time, but my goal is to train him to be a therapy dog. So far we are extremely proud of our guy (we think he's gifted). He is potty-trained and knows all his basic commands. We start Doggie obedience school with him on April 7th. He has lots of other doggie friends and is much more popular than we are. He was about 10lbs when we got him and is now 65lbs with lots more growing to go!

Engagement Day...we were all sort of tired

Baby Boy Foss!

Though we've only seen a few pictures and some live action video, we are pretty sure our little guy is the cutest, smartest, most awesomest baby ever. We found out he was a boy at 14 weeks, much earlier than we were expecting but it has been nice to know for so long! (We, of course, had them confirm at the 22 week ultrasound. You never know!). I'll update this blog weekly with baby news and pictures of my growing belly. People seem to enjoy those. :-)

ps- yes he is waving at you. He is very friendly.

Wedding Ceremony: New Year's Day, Newport Beach

On New Year's Eve 2008, we decided we wanted to get married on New Year's Day. We loved the idea of getting married on the first day of 2009, a year that will be the most important, special, and joyous year we've ever had.

We went to the court house on the 31st to get our license and then we threw a fabulous Karaoke New Year's Eve party at Taylor's pad. On New Year's Day, we had no plan whatsoever! We called a few pastors that we knew but it was Taylor's sister, Carrie who really got the show on the road. She made one call and had a friend/pastor at the house within an hour. Amazing. We met with him and plotted our vows and the ceremony and he was so wonderful that he agreed to meet us on the beach at sunset (during the rose bowl!). That left us with about an hour to get ourselves ready and down to the beach.

I came up with an outfit out of things in my closet and things I ripped off of Carrie, tried to do something to my hair and face and then raced against the sun to get to the beach. We had a beautiful intimate ceremony on the beach (does it look familiar? Same beach where Taylor proposed!) We are excited to have the opportunity to share that special moment and vows with all our family and friends at our ceremony in September.

Engagement Story and Photos!

Here is the wonderful proposal story (cut and pasted from our wedding website because I'm too lazy to write a new version)

Around 8am on Saturday, December 13th, Leslie got a text message from Taylor that read "Meet me at the dog beach". Leslie is not prone to being awake at 8am on Saturday mornings so luckily for Taylor she was on that day. She agreed to meet him and rushed out of her apartment in jeans and her favorite dorky law school sweatshirt that she really shouldn't wear in public.

She arrived at the beach on one of the most gorgeous mornings ever with the sun streaming through the clouds. She spotted Taylor standing on a sand mound facing the ocean. She could tell that he was holding something bundled up in his arms and she knew it was the puppy they had picked out but didn't think she would be able to see for weeks. She sprinted towards Taylor (also not something she is prone to do) and was so excited to hold their precious new puppy. Taylor, the trickster, had arranged with the breeder to bring the puppy home earlier and had pretended to be at a boy's only poker night on Friday but was instead making a 4 hour road trip to fetch the puppy.

So Leslie was ecstatic to finally have the puppy and it was just the cutest thing alive. While Leslie was cooing at the puppy wrapped up in Taylor's jacket. Taylor suggested she check out the dog tag that he picked out. It was a red heart engraved with "Will You Marry Me?" Taylor got down on one knee and presented the gorgeous ring that he had custom designed. Needless to say, Leslie's head exploded. A diamond AND a puppy. A girl can only take so much.

Taylor then informed Leslie that he had tipped off the paparazzi and sure enough Taylor's mom, Stancie was snapping away from a secure distance. And Taylor's dad, prepared as usual, had champagne at the ready! Leslie called her mom to inform her but of course Taylor had asked both her parents for permission the day before so by the time Leslie had her on the phone the wedding was 2/3rds planned.

Their adorable goofball puppy, Hobbes, an English Mastiff continues to sport his "Will You Marry Me?" dog tag and there is some concern that he will be brought up on polygamy charges since no girl has yet to turn down the offer.
