7 Months(ish)

Well our little man is on the move again! He learned to crawl followed very shortly by learning to pull himself to a standing position on anything or anybody. We are hoping he takes a little breather before launching into walking but it seems unlikely with this one. He seems to love the freedom and is not at all interested in activities that require him to be confined to an area or lap. Changing his diaper has become a 4 handed job. 2 for the bottom half and 2 for keep the top half from flipping over and trying to fly off the changing table! Calvin also got his first tooth. It is very cute on his bottom gum and is razor sharp. He is enjoying solid foods and making huge messes. He is also starting to find his voice. Unfortunately, his voice is largely growling in nature but maybe that will change. He does the funniest thing when saying "Mama"; he seems to pronounce it with a "D". But he'll figure that out soon enough. Or else he is grounded. For life.
Hobbes is a great step-stool.

Play Dates!

Calvin does sometimes get to hang out with other little tykes. Which is good because otherwise his whole life would be adults making weird faces at him.

Cousins! All the kids are finger-chewing these days.

Babies don't always cooperate with the cameras.

3 weeks apart. Calvin is taller but Bjorn is fatter. Not sure who would win in a cage fight. TBD.

6 Months(ish)

.5 years old! How fast (and slow) the time has gone. The little man is on the brink of so many new things. He just started eating real food! So far he's had rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, and carrots. He makes a big mess and loves it. I love that he'll sit somewhere for a prolonged period of time! In other news, he rolls, sits, and sort of scoot/crawls. He might not have the form right but if he wants something oh he'll get it. And what does he want? The remote control of course! Also the computer or the phone or anything you are holding that you would rather he not eat. Yep, he'll take that. There is lots of babbling and huffing and yelling (from the baby, mostly). Not words yet. No teeth yet but that will come soon. What else? He is still laughing, cooing, and flirting with everyone in sight.

Daddy's Team: Short Stop

Visit from Peachie Mama and Chappaw. There was a lot of napping. Unpictured: Leslie running around like crazy because she had two free hands!

Happy New Year! He was very VERY interested in Adri's champagne flute. Probably not a great sign.

Santa Baby (literally)

Santa is here!!!

Santa suit and stockings arrived from the North Pole (Hot Springs) yesterday. We are looking forward to a very merry Christmas and hope you all have the same! :-)

It's Christmas Time!!!

Our Christmas photo shoot (by artist Stancie Foss) down on the beach. Does it look warm and sunny? It wasn't. It was freezing! But the whole family did a good job. Hobbes is the best poser of the lot. You hate to see us leave but you love to watch us walk away!

5 Months (ish)

The little man is 5 months old! It's hard to believe. He is still practically perfect in every way. He loves his mobile, toys, people, and anything he can grab and put in his mouth. He'll start his eating adventure soon but for now he is still a boob man! If you put him in a sitting position (good luck getting him to bend in the middle...he'd prefer to stand, thank you very much) he can sit pretty well on his own. He rests on his elbows in a crunch position so he's going to have a baby six-pack soon. He still smiles and laughs and is a total charmer. Oh and he has taken up drumming.
One day Taylor came home early and offered to watch the baby. I found them like this. Toby was keeping a close eye on the nappers.
Take that Bjorn! We found that little shop "ikea" where your parents got your bedspread and now we have one too!
Still a lot of this going on...
